After months of concern and hundreds of race cancellations across Europe, it’s white in Åre, something that means a green light for the World Championships – regarding snow depth. The FIS Technical Delegate Svein Mundahl was in Åre on Friday 1`9th January to check the snow conditions.

“I knew that there was snow in Åre, but there’s considerably more than I’d been counting on,” stated Svein Mundahl after finishing his inspection of the men’s downhill. I am very satisfied, the snow conditions in Åre are excellent.”

Heavy snowfall over the last few days has created an environment that is a skier’s dream.

“Below this fresh snow there is more than 70cm of compact canon snow,” says Nalle Hansson, Arena Manager. This will be the snow surface when the World Championships begin with the men’s Super-G on 3rd February.
