Montgenèvre, celebrating 100 years of winter sports competition this winter, is the first ski resort in the Southern Alps to translate its site into Russian.
The decision to translate the pages follows visits from a number of Russian and Ukrainian professionals to the resort filming of 13 television broadcasts of the show “The Lord of the Mountains”.
The show combines winter sports activities, the thirteenth broadcast including dog sledding and ice climbing. It is produced by a French production company, Mistral, and published by Channel One Russia and InterTV in Ukraine over 13 consecutive weeks, beginning this Saturday, February 10th.
Skier numbers in Russia continue to grow and the website www.ski.ru reports there are now more than a million Russian downhill skiers, many inspired by keen skier President Putin. France has been particularly strong in attracting the Russian ski market with a large number of French resorts attending trade and consumer shows in Moscow.
