World Snow Festival in Grindelwald

winter-festival.jpgThe 25th World Snow Festival is due to be staged in Grindelwald this week. The event has developed into one of the most fascinating and popular winter events in the Swiss resort. Out of the blocks of snow provided, teams of artists from all over the world create surprising sculptures on the theme of “Highs and Lows”.

More events will follow in the coming months. On 4th February The Velogemel World Championships are THE race event for snow bikers. The trademark of Grindelwald, today the Velogemel is far more of a winter activity and is even exported worldwide.

The King of the First hill on 10th March is biolled as, “The most spectacular and fastest ski race in the world,” with a mass-start on the First-Oberjoch and finishing in Grindelwald centre.

The season winds down with the 10th SnOwpenAir Concert on 31st March. Believed to be the highest open-air concert in the snow at 2061m above sea level with national and international musical acts, the event is celebrating its 10th year in 2007. Bryan Adams has been signed up to perform to mark this achievement.
